Inside Campus Partners
Leshia Litton: Manager, Loan Operations

November 2009

Leshia Litton began working for Campus Partners several months ago when she was hired as Manager, Loan Operations. Although she is new to our company, she brings experience in student loans, problem solving, and project management to this very important position. Leshia is responsible for ensuring that customer needs, contractual terms, and obligations are met, and she oversees the Customer Service Representatives who work directly with our campus-based customers.

Because of the importance of her position, Leshia has been immersed in training with her manager, Debra Adams, Director, Loan Operations, for the past three months. She attended training classes along with new representatives, participated in on-the-job training opportunities, and has learned forms processing and borrower services from the ground up. She is happy that she was able to observe how our company operated before assuming all of her job duties. “Debra is great. I appreciate that she did not throw me into the position without a chance to learn. I feel prepared to lead my team and I am ready to meet our customers,” Leshia stated. “This article is part of the kickoff.”

Leshia may be new to our company, but not to student loans. She has worked with student loans for 15 years, first at Key Bank in Cleveland, Ohio, and most recently for a private loan company that originated and serviced student loans. In previous jobs she has worked with Stafford, private, and other loan types and enjoys the challenge of this fast paced, ever-changing industry. In her last position, she served as Director, Business Partner Relationships, which gives her a great background for her current job. “If you understand one student loan program, you can transfer that knowledge to other programs because of common loan terminology and borrower obligations,” she said.

Debra Adams is very enthusiast about having Leshia on board. “Leshia’s prior management experience has allowed her to hit the ground running! Her knowledge of student loans along with her positive attitude is an asset to Campus Partners,” Debra reported.

When asked about her personal philosophy for customer service, Leshia responded quickly with two words, “Sundown turnaround.” Leshia never likes to keep anyone hanging and diligently responds to each request by the end of the day. “Communication is so important. Even if I just confirm that I have received a phone call or email, the person I am assisting knows that I‘m working on their issue,” she explained.

Leshia finds working here very rewarding. She likes the spirit of team work that exists and how welcoming her team and other employees have been to her. “I feel comfortable and at home. Everyone seems to have been here forever, but I feel accepted and valued by my team and the rest of the staff,” she said with enthusiasm. Her short term goals are to “continue to grow, learn, understand my job, and enjoy what I do.”

Leshia left the winters of Ohio behind around a year ago, when she decided to move to North Carolina to be closer to her family. She had returned to her home in the Cleveland suburbs after a trip and found that she could not open the back door because of the snow build up. At that point, she started making plans to move south. Leshia, along with Savannah, her 15 year old daughter, and Tyler, her 10 year old son, all love the weather here and are adjusting well to the move. The family likes to be outdoors and enjoys visiting parks, going to the beach, and skiing. She also enjoys going on cruises and reading when she has a chance.

Leshia, who commutes from another county, is happy to say she is now a “city girl gone country.” She bought a home on four acres in January and has spent most of her free time remodeling. She also had to buy a riding lawn mower to take care of her yard. It takes four hours to cut the grass now, a big change from the 30 minutes it used to take her as a city girl. But she loves it. After a long day, she likes to sit by her fire pit and enjoy the atmosphere.

Leshia has made an outstanding impression! She is looking forward to turning her attention to working with her team and customers. We are very happy to introduce her as your new Manager, Loan Operations.
